The inhabitants\nused to be among the most church-going, and happy people in that district of\nthe country; until by the influence of General \u2014 &nbsp;and a club of his friends, the spirit of\ninfidelity, and with it, dissipation and corrupt morals crept in among them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John C\u2014l was one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the valley.
